Commissioned by Studio Urbscapes for the Shreyas Foundation, this site-specific installation draws inspiration from the Sarus crane (Antigone antigone), whose populations in Ahmedabad and the surrounding rural landscapes of central Gujarat form one of the species' most important strongholds. Crafted at life scale, the sculptures blur the boundary between the natural and the made, their gentle movement in the breeze lending the installation a sense of quiet impermanence.

Influenced by the language of kinetic sculpture, each crane is meticulously formed from a single sheet of aluminium, transforming an industrial material into a study of balance, lightness, and precision. The purity of the mono-material construction, punctuated only by restrained anodised accents, allows the integrity of the form to take precedence.

Entirely handcrafted, the installation extends Rhizome's ongoing interest in kinetic sculpture, where movement is treated not as an effect, but as an intrinsic part of the design.
