Commissioned by The Woods at Sasan Resort, part of the 1000 Islands Group, this bespoke kinetic installation was created for the resort's double height space. Conceived in close collaboration with the client, the work responds to the architecture while expressing Rhizome's approach to collectible design—where material innovation, craftsmanship, and concept converge.
Inspired by the kinetic mobiles of Alexander Calder, the installation reimagines terracotta through a distinctly concept-led lens. Hand-formed and delicately perforated vessels are suspended from a finely engineered brass framework, creating a composition that shifts gently with the movement of air while maintaining perfect equilibrium.
Every detail was meticulously resolved, from the weight and balance of each individual element to the spatial choreography of the installation as a whole. The result is a one-of-a-kind work that transforms an everyday material into a sculptural expression of kinetics, light, and balance—created exclusively for its setting.
