Commissioned for a private residence in Shilaj, Ahmedabad, this bespoke bamboo lighting installation was conceived as a sculptural intervention within the home's staircase. Rather than simply occupying the double-height void, the work choreographs the experience of moving through it, revealing shifting perspectives as one ascends, descends, or encounters it from above.

A longstanding source of inspiration for Rhizome, Alexander Calder's kinetic sculptures—and his enduring connection with Ahmedabad—inform the conceptual foundation of the installation. Inspired by the ephemeral geometry of a dandelion, the work explores ideas of balance, movement, and suspension through handcrafted bamboo. Its vibrant red finish establishes a striking dialogue with the surrounding interiors, while the composition appears to hover effortlessly within the architectural volume.

Entirely handcrafted by Rhizome's artisans, every element was meticulously balanced to create a composition that feels both poised and weightless. The work continues Rhizome's exploration of kinetics as a sculptural language, where balance, movement, and craftsmanship become inseparable.
