The Makara Installation inhabits the intersection of surrealism and Indian mythology, drawing from the Makara—a mythical sea creature in Hindu and Buddhist traditions, often imagined as a crocodile-fish hybrid and revered as a divine guardian of sacred spaces.
Handcrafted in bent and stained bamboo, the form is anchored by a brass spine that seamlessly integrates the lighting element. The minimalist tail and articulated head are hand-fabricated in brass sheet, balancing restraint with presence.
At once dramatic and offbeat, the installation reinterprets the idea of protection—transforming an ancient guardian into a contemporary, luminous presence within the space it inhabits.
