NETRA SHRINE CABINET

The Netra Shrine is a handcrafted reclaimed teakwood cabinet that begins with a simple provocation: while furniture exists to hold the everyday, the most precious objects in our lives are often hidden away, unseen. This piece offers a space for what one holds truly sacred—handwritten letters, photographs, heirlooms—bringing them into presence rather than concealment.

Its form draws from the ritual of murti pratishtha, where a sculpture is consecrated and awakened. The gesture of darbha grass, the act of unveiling the eyes through reflection, the delicate touch of the shalãkã—all speak to a moment of quiet transformation. These ideas are translated into material: a darbha grass tassel, a mirror lock, hand-hammered brass, and Srinathji's vitreous enamel netras, all coming together within a reclaimed teak structure.

The doors of the cabinet and the insides of it are upholstered with brocade. The cabinet moves beyond function to honour that which it holds.
