BRASS
We use brass because it is 100% recyclable, and because, unlike other materials, it does not degrade significantly during the recycling process. The high value of brass ensures that it is indeed sorted and recycled, reducing the burden on mining virgin material. Because brass is recycled, it generally stays out of landfills, reducing the burden on end-of-life management.
We are committed to using authentic materials honestly. Therefore, we use actual brass - we do not use other materials coated to look like brass. We prioritize sustainability and transparency with our clients. What you see is what you get. We embrace the natural characteristics of brass and love the way brass ages, and its natural oxidation process.
Our production processes while creating brass products in artisanal. We lean into the rich cultural legacy of India’s craftspeople. In the case of brass, this is repositories in the Thatheras, who traditionally hand-hammer metal into utilitarian utensils. The hand-hammering is a highly skilled activity, which requires time, and a fine quality of brass. We love the imperfect perfection of each of the artisan’s strokes, and the hammer-marks that bear testament to how a sheet was transformed into a form. We understand craft as more than labour. We understand it as a labour of love.
